Serviced Apartment Awards
In its ninth year of running, the Serviced Apartment Awards have been described as the Oscars of the serviced apartment industry. The awards are are the first and only dedicated awards created for and by the international serviced apartment, aparthotel, extended stay and short term rental industry. The awards are open to qualifying properties worldwide, making Eliza’s nomination even more special. This year there are 19 award categories, judged by a panel of industry experts. Categories include Best Operator, Best Interior or Exterior Design, Best Use of Social Media, Most Innovative Use of Technology and the one we’re most excited about, Rising Star. We’re proud to have someone from the PREM Group team nominated for this prestigious award.
Our Rising Star, Eliza
According to the judging criteria, a rising star must have passion for the industry, demonstrating commitment to personal and/or professional development and future ambitions. They must show exceptional leadership skills, demonstrating a clear understanding of business and financial planning. They must also leave a positive impact on their work, guests and team with evidence of contribution to the extended stay sector on a domestic, regional or global scale. Eliza has all of this and more. She is a kind, caring colleague who brings a sense of positivity to her work every day.
A Word from Eliza
How do you feel about being nominated for the Rising Star Award in hospitality? What was your initial reaction?
I am honoured and a bit shocked to be nominated for this award. From the moment I was nominated within Prem Group I was scared because it felt like a big responsibility to be selected as a Rising Star.
How long have you worked at PREMIER SUTIES Dublin Leeson Street?
I have worked with PREMIER SUTIES Dublin Leeson Street for 2 and a half years now. I started as a part-timer while doing my Master’s Degree and then moved to a full-time position. It has been an incredible journey.
What do you love most about your job?
The busy environment of central reservations has brought me in contact with people from different walks of life which has been truly inspiring. I love to see the smiles of the guests at the end of their stay or a huge thank you email from an agent or a company. Best of all, your day is never the same (terrible for a creature of habit like I am). We often deal with multiple tasks at the same time but even after a few years there is something new. The ability of the team and the business to adapt to outside factors has been a real inspiration for me.
Could you share a memorable experience with a guest or a team member that highlights your dedication to hospitality?
It’s hard to pick just one memorable thing. Every day you experience something new but the feeling of having a guest or a company return because they enjoyed the stay or the service is the most memorable thing. I can still remember all the people, guests, agents names and when they call back it’s always a huge pleasure.
What advice would you give to someone just starting in the hospitality industry who hopes to follow a similar path to yours?
One of the most important things in the hospitality industry is not to be afraid of change or of trying something new, be that a new task, responsibility or a learning course. Jump on the opportunities and learn from others. An integral part of this industry is the team you’re working with and I have been very lucky in this sense! You need to be able to trust the people you work with and your managers that the right thing will be done (and I definitely do!)
