If you’ve never heard of a Stottie, you’re in for a delicious treat. Blackfriars Restaurant – 3 min walk:

Blackfriars Restaurant is a former 13-century Dominican Friary which claims to be the oldest dining room in the UK and serves all manner of Geordie favourites. They have a banquet room, tasting rooms, a cookery school, a fantastic restaurant and a bar stocking all manner of beverages. On the menu, you’ll find a variety of homely traditional British food all made using seasonal produce and one of the best value early bird specials in Newcastle. While there, try Pan Haggerty – layers of potatoes, melted cheese and sliced onions usually served straight from the pan.

 

Broad Chare Pub – 15 min walk:

The Broad Chare Restaurant and Bar offer all the best bits of a traditional ale-house. Delicious local beer and ales, homemade traditional food and service with a genuine smile. Their menu offers a variety of delicious filling meals or a nibbles menu if you just fancy a snack. You can try local delicacies like pigs’ ears and oysters or stay safe with some hand-raised pork pies and Scotch eggs. You can also sample some delicious Brown Ale, famous in Newcastle. Greggs – various locations:

While it is by no means a delicacy in the UK, you may not know that Greggs was born and bred in Gosforth, Newcastle! It has grown in popularity to become the largest bakery chain in the UK and it serves a huge variety of sweet and savouries like sausage rolls, pies and bakes. The Newcastle branches often carry regional treats like the above mentioned Stottie if you can get in early enough. House of Tides – 10 min walk:
