5 Reasons Why Glasgow is the Perfect Place to Visit in Autumn

We don’t get much of a summer here in Glasgow unfortunately so if you’re visiting for the weather, you may be disappointed! Luckily Glasgow is beautiful all year round, especially in the autumn months. Moreover, if you’re looking for the perfect accommodation in Glasgow, stay away from overpriced, cramped hotels. Our serviced apartments in Glasgow offers great value and is a fantastic base to stay for exploring the city. Here are our picks of what to do in Glasgow throughout Autumn

The Weather:

Autumn is our favourite weather month. We don’t usually get a hot summer and winters can be somewhat dismal weather-wise; Autumn is the ideal time to visit Glasgow. Glasgow’s entire colour scheme changes once we hit September and instead of the vibrant greens and bright flowers, we have a more muted autumnal palette of browns, yellows and oranges. Head to Kelvingrove Park, Pollokshields or even the Necropolis to experience the bright reds and burnt oranges of the leaves. It’s also the ideal season for a long temperate walk.

Halloween:

While Halloween isn’t exclusive to Glasgow, we do it really well! Look out your window of PREMIER SUITES in Glasgow on 31st October and you’ll see plenty of people embracing All Hallows Eve. You’ll bump into little one’s trick or treating and bigger ones enjoying a festive drink. If you want to learn about the spookier side of Halloween in Glasgow, take one of the infamous ghost tours in the Necropolis. For a tamer Halloween treat, visit the world’s oldest music hall to watch a classic Halloween movie or for a spooky tour.

Guy Fawkes Night:

If you’re lucky enough to be here on 5th November, wrap up well and head down to Glasgow Green to enjoy Guy Fawkes Night. Also called bonfire night, 5th November marks the anniversary of the discovery of a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. There are huge fireworks displays, people carrying sparklers and hundreds of people gather to witness this magical display. It’s the perfect night to grab a hot chocolate from Kimble’s, the best chocolate shop in town.

Seasonal food:

Menus in Glasgow change according to the seasons so expect to see a lot more homely, warming food in comparison to the light fresh produce of summer. Soups, stews, root veggies and the last fruits of the summer are popular in Autumn. If you’re looking for a really delicious seasonal meal, take a trip to a multi-award-winning Scottish restaurant The Gannet. It’s about 30-minutes’ walk or 10-minutes by car, and it’s well worth the trip. As well as the beautifully designed surroundings, the menu is fresh, seasonal and utterly delicious

Glasgow Pubs:

We’re well used to harsh weather in our gorgeous corner of the world and our pubs are well equipped for every eventuality. A lot of our traditional Scottish pubs have comfy sofas, open fires, comfort food, and a relaxed atmosphere. Sip a glass of your favourite tipple, hot or cold, in front of a roaring fire in Rab Ha’s, in the heart of Merchant City Glasgow, just 5-minutes’ walk from our serviced apartments in Glasgow. If you don’t fancy heading out, enjoy a drink in your own private lounge area that comes as standard in every apartment in PREMIER SUITES Glasgow.

If you’re looking for an autumn break with stunning scenery, great events and fantastic seasonal food, look no further than Scotland. Our aparthotel in Glasgow offers much better value than a traditional hotel stays in the city.
