Top Activities For Families In Dublin

Dublin is a great place to go for a cultural weekend, a stag or hen party or a romantic break – but how to do you entertain little ones in such a big city? Luckily, Dublin is a great place for families with lots to see and do for kids of all ages. Before you plan your weekend activities, make sure your accommodation is family-friendly by booking a stay in our holiday apartments in Dublin. PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments in Dublin offers space, facilities and value unrivalled by a traditional hotel stay – ideal for family travel! Here are some of our favourite activities for families so you can plan your weekend break or Easter getaway in Dublin

Dublin Zoo

One of the most impressive green spaces in Dublin is the Phoenix Park, the largest walled park in Europe. Contained within is the jewel in its crown, Dublin Zoo. You could spend a whole day exploring the vast grounds of the zoo, wandering through the various enclosures and exhibits and hopefully catching a glimpse of some of the exotic and wonderful animals living here. They have some great breeding programmes and if you time it well, you can watch the fascinating feeding time of some of these magnificent beasts. Not only does the zoo entertain your little ones, you’ll all learn something new or see a creature you’d never encounter in the wild. Don’t forget to bring a picnic to enjoy lunch al fresco.

Viking Splash

Dublin has an abundance of road-based tour buses, each taking you on a loop of Dublin and telling you the history of a place; pretty standard in any big city. Dublin has something very special, aimed especially at little ones. The Viking Splash Tour offers you a tour from a very different perspective. Climb into an Aquabus where the charismatic guide will give you an animated history of the city including our direct links with Vikings. These unique vehicles double as boats and each has a different Viking name with a colourful and hilarious guide on board. You’ll see the city from both land and sea making this a truly unique experience and keeping your little ones entertained for two hours!

Wax Museum Plus

They say never meet your heroes, but these heroes are a little different to the norm! The National Wax Museum Plus is a fantastic experience for all the family. They know a lot about their craft after almost 40-years in business and offer a truly interactive experience. They have three floors of hand-carved wax works accompanied by fun facts, games and interactive exhibits. You can learn about Irish history, take a tour through stars of the silver screen and most importantly, meet famous characters like Harry Potter, SpongeBob and others in their enchanted children’s world.

Imaginosity

Museums can be boring for children. Few little ones are enthralled by a dusty piece of rock behind glass or a rifle from a revolution they have never heard of. On your family trip, visit Ireland’s only dedicated children’s museum, Imaginosity. Children learn best when they’re having fun and there is no shortage of fun in this unique centre. They offer children a chance to enjoy some hands-on learning while creating brilliant memories. Both children and families can enjoy interactive workshops and learn more about science, theatre, art, engineering, health and the environment at their own pace. It’s an excellent day out for children under 9.

Tayto Park

We’re cheating a little with this one as it’s technically not in Dublin, but Tayto Park is worth a visit in any family trip. Tayto Park is a theme park & zoo based in County Meath, a 30-minute drive from Dublin. It is based on the famous Irish crisp brand Tayto and has over 100 attractions and rides contributing to an excellent day out for all ages! The rides in the theme park are suitable for everyone – from thrill-seekers looking for an adrenaline rush to younger guests enjoying the fun activities. The on-site zoo has some of the most exotic creatures, the biggest cats and the most colourful birds that we have ever seen! It’s a great day out for families and a great place to make lasting memories with your little ones.
