Outdoor places of interest near PREMIER SUITES Birmingham

Birmingham is known as the second largest city in the UK besides, London, but it still has some hidden gems. With things changing in our lives we believe that parks and open spaces are absolutely so important to help maintain the health and wellbeing for our country. Birmingham is a unique and diverse city. Did you know there are 571 parks in Birmingham which is over 3,500 hectares of open space. With it being Summer, why not pack a picnic, get outdoors for some exercise and simply explore! Our team have got together and shared some of their favourite recommendations of local parks and open spaces nearby to PREMIER SUITES Birmingham.

Cannon Hill Park


This is one of the most popular preferred parks near to the City Centre consisting of 250 acres of land. It is around 2 miles distance (10 minutes drive by car) and a 40 minutes walk away from PREMIER SUITES Birmingham. This park is also home to the MAC Theatre and Birmingham’s Wildlife Conservation Centre.

Centenary Square and The Library of Birmingham


Birmingham Library is full of surprises, there is a secret garden inside on the seventh floor with views over the City. Just a 20 minute walk away from PREMIER SUITES Birmingham is the newly redeveloped Centenary Square which has outdoor space with water fountains which the children tend to enjoy.

Victoria Square


Take a walk in the heart of the city centre and see some of the cities finest old buildings in a pedestrianised square. There is a statue in the square which has the nickname of ‘The floozie in the jacuzzi’. At the top of Victoria Square you will find Birmingham’s Museum and Art Gallery.

Birmingham Cathedral and Grounds
The Cathedral is located next to Colmore Row business district in the heart of the City Centre and is steeped in beauty with its stain glass windows. A lovely open space to sit and chill amidst the bustle of the City life.

St Paul’s Square


A pleasant hidden georgian square located within the Jewellery Quarter area of Birmingham. A perfect place to find a bench outdoors, relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the open square. Make sure you spot the unique place named ‘The Jam House’ opened by Jools Holland.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Located near to the City Centre 2.5 miles drive by car. Birmingham’s botanical gardens have a relaxing atmosphere and the feel of a large Victorian park. A great option to consider for a family day out.

Sutton Park


Is a little further out away from the City Centre 11 miles by car. Sutton Park is one of the largest urban park in Europe and a national nature reserve. There is a visitor centre with toilets and a huge amount of open green space which cattle and wild ponies graze on!
