Easter In Dublin

Easter is more than a day to overindulge on chocolate eggs. It’s time away from work to spend with friends and family, taking advantage of the warmer, longer days. Easter is a great time to visit Dublin. Spring is in full swing in April with blooming gardens, events throughout the week, and lots to explore. Many important events in Irish history happened over the Easter bank holiday weekend and there are commemorations around the city if you’d like to learn more. Before you add to your ‘things to do in Dublin’ list, book comfortable, flexible accommodation in PREMIER SUITES Dublin, then start planning your stay.

Walking Tour of Dublin

Easter is an ideal time to enjoy a walking tour in the Spring sunshine. Dublin is a very walkable city with many of the main attractions within 30 minutes walk of the city center. You can enjoy a great selection of walk tours depending on your interests ranging from history to horror and everything in between. There are musical tours, spooky tours, civil war history tours, gastro tours, architecture tours, fables & folklore tours, and many more. Many operators offer private tours for groups or you can join a group and head to the pub after with new friends! If the weather doesn’t cooperate with your plans, you can enjoy an open-top bus tour with a live guide and a great personality.

1916 Tour

Some of the most significant events in Irish history happened in Ireland on Easter weekend in 1916.  Ireland’s most famous uprising happened on Easter Sunday 1916 in the form of an uprising carried out by members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and Irish Citizens Army in protest against British rule in Ireland. Spend the Easter break learning more about the brave men and women of the rebellion and the acts that led to Irish independence in the National Museum of Ireland, the GPO, or by enjoying a walking tour of some very important buildings. Kilmainham Gaol (Jail) is a fascinating tour with some harrowing stories and interesting facts about the personalities associated with this momentous time in Irish history.

Easter with the Family

There are lots of activities for children in Dublin. Playgrounds and parks are usually packed with families over the Easter mid-term and are a great way to tire your little ones out before bed. There are multiple soft play centers to choose from. You can venture outside of the city to Newbridge Farm or make a day of it in the fantastic Emerald Park with rollercoasters and lots of fun activities for children of all ages. Malahide Castle and Airfield Estate often have Easter activities like egg hunts and hedge mazes. If it looks like it’s going to rain there are multiple cinemas in the city within walking distance of our accommodation in Dublin showing early screenings of the best kids’ movies. If you like, you can have an indoor picnic in your spacious suite, watch a movie or make a duvet tent before enjoying a home-cooked meal or a takeaway.

Explore Dublin Parks

Dublin’s parks can get overrun by families and tourists when the weather is warm so Easter is a good time to get out and explore the lesser-visited but equally beautiful parks around the city. Start with Dublin’s secret garden, Iveagh Gardens. Less than five minutes from our serviced apartments on Dublin’s Leeson Street, the gardens host comedy and food festivals in Summer but is often overlooked as a place to visit. Its hedge maze, rose garden, fountains, and waterfall are some of the features that make it a beautiful park. St Patrick’s Park is one of the city’s most picturesque and despite its small size never seems overrun. Sitting in the shadow of St Patrick’s Cathedral, the park has a small playground and lots of flowers to enjoy. There is also a Book Market every Sunday. Book PREMIER SUITES Dublin Leeson Street and enjoy flexible, great value accommodation in the heart of the city. Our suites offer all of the facilities of a home from home allowing you to explore the city like a local. Our one and two-bedroom suites are ideal for families and groups who want to make the most of their time together. PREMIER SUITES offer excellent value for money, especially if you book our lowest available rates on our website, guaranteed.
