Christmas Market in Liverpool
Liverpool’s Christmas Market is back for 2022 and this year it’s bigger than ever, spit over two city centre locations. The markets will be located outside St George’s Hall and use St John’s Gardens and a second festive offering at the Pier Head. Both sites will have stalls selling local food, drink, gift items and local artisan products and have a number of family-friendly vintage fairground rides for guests of all ages to enjoy. There will also be performance spaces for choirs, carollers and school groups; the perfect entertainment for an afternoon of shopping. Don’t forget to pick up a mulled wine to keep yourself warm in the nippy winter air. The markets are open from 12th November until 23rd December and you don’t need tickets.
Liverpool ONE – Chavasse Park
Along with the new and improved Christmas Markets, Liverpool One has a brand-new Christmas experience this year. Chavasse Park will transform into a ski-inspired Alpine Village for all ages to enjoy. Opening on November 11th, the alpine village will include excellent food and drink stalls, wreath-making, independent traders and plenty of festive family fun. There will be games and events like karaoke, curling, shuffleboard, prosecco pong, and more. There is a party lodge you can book for you and your mates to enjoy a Christmas drink or families can join The Santa Club on Sundays in December to enjoy karaoke, free hot chocolate and colouring pads for the kids and a change to need the man in red himself. It promises to be a great day out for all visitors.
Panto in Liverpool
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the screams of ‘He’s behind you!!’ ringing in your ears! This year we have a great selection of Pantos to choose from in theatres close to our family-friendly accommodation in Liverpool.
This year the legendary Everyman rock and roll panto is back with Little Red Riding Hood where you can see the adventures of Red, her grandmother and that sly wolf who is out to cause trouble. It runs from 25th November to 14th January.
There’ll be no ‘bah-humbug’ feeling for audiences after a fantastic rendition of A Christmas Carol in the North Playhouse. This unique retelling of the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge is fast & furious leaving guests on a high. The show runs from Friday, November 25 to Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Christmas Light Shows
This year, Liverpool Cathedral is not only impressive in its structure. It has plans to light up the city with an immersive light show. This experience takes visitors through the story of the Nativity with an indoor light show inspired by the first Christmas lighting up the interior of the Cathedral, as angels guide you through a magical display of twinkling lights. Complete with mesmerising projections, and beautiful music this limited-availability experience runs from Friday, December 2 to Friday, December 9 only.
It always feels more like Christmas when Royal Albert Dock Liverpool lights up. More than a million beautiful Christmas lights transform the dock and this year there are two new installations; a giant yellow submarine which visitors can walk through, and a family of dazzling jellyfish. After admiring the lights, visitors can warm up with a hot chocolate or mulled wine from the many bars and restaurants along the dock The return of the popular light trail around the historic dock starts on 14th November.
