Can’t Miss Events This Summer in Amsterdam

There is so much to look forward to this year in Amsterdam, so much that we can’t fit it all in! Get ready to fill your social calendar with festivals, markets, concerts, fairs, exhibitions and so much more in 2022. Before you plan your trip of the year to Amsterdam book great value serviced apartment accommodation. PREMIER SUITES Amsterdam offers guests a great location on the edge of the city, facilities and extras that a traditional hotel could not compete with and best of all, a home from home experience while you travel. Here are some of the best events in Amsterdam this summer that you simply can’t miss.

June

Festival season officially begins in June as the days are warming up and summer kicks into gear. From June to September, Vondelpark Open Air Festival takes place with a wide variety of free outdoor events and performances all the way to Autumn. Keep an eye on their website for a schedule of the best outdoor events.

On the Roof Festival also happens from June to September celebrating the colourful, diverse creative scene of Amsterdam. This fantastic event mixes cinematic experiences with breathtaking views of the city of Amsterdam. It’s worth finding out what’s on when you’re visiting and grabbing tickets. This year they have included family-friendly concerts too.

June is also time for the return of Holland Festival, a leading international performance arts festival in the Netherlands. Since it began in 1947, the festival has been providing Dutch and international theatregoers with a selection of the latest, best and most widely acclaimed productions from around the world. Enjoy a mix of theatre, music, opera, film and visual arts, as well as Western and non-Western performance pieces in a variety of languages.

If you love food, drink and good times, Bacchus Winefestival returns over two weekends in June 2022. 3-5 June and 10-12 June sees Het Amsterdamse Bos turn into a foodie playground with wines from all corners of the world, plenty of local food offerings, DJs and live music.

For one weekend only, visit the pristine gardens of some of Amsterdam’s finest canal houses during Open Garden Days. This year’s theme is “A Visit to the Private Canal Gardens” and we are lucky to see inside some of these oases of calm. This year, this prestigious weekend is hosted from 17-19th June.

July

Summer is in full swing in July with vibrant festivals for everyone taking place across town. From 1-16th July, enjoy one of the world’s most renowned international modern dance festivals. Julidans celebrates all that contemporary dance has to offer with events for young and old across the city.

The Kwaku Summer Festival is celebrated every year at the Nelson Mandela Park. It celebrates the end of slavery in the Netherlands Antilles and Suriname with celebrations held over many weekends during July and August. Enjoy music, dancing, sports games and so much more during this brilliant festival.

One of the biggest and brightest festivals of the year takes place from 30 July to 7 August. Pride paints the city with rainbows, both physically and metaphorically with venues, bars, workplaces and people showing their pride. Amsterdam is well known as a liberal city and never is that truer than the pride festival when you can enjoy concerts, performances and shows you could only imagine.

August

The good times continue with the Canal Parade on 6th August, a fun and fabulous party in the city centre and the major event of Pride Amsterdam. Grab your favourite rainbow attire and cheer on the spectacular floats as they make their way along the city’s beautiful canals.

From 12-28 August visitors and locals enjoy De Parade Theatre Festival, a flurry of outdoor performances in the hottest month of the year. The travelling theatre festival and its colourful tents, terraces and restaurants, hopes to return to the Martin Luther King park with paired festivals in five of the largest cities in The Netherlands: Eindhoven, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Amsterdam.

Fans of classical, jazz and world music won’t want to miss the unique Grachtenfestival where orchestras and bands play along Amsterdam’s canals. Plan your trip to Amsterdam between 12-21st August and keep an eye on their official website for the line-up announcement.
