Top 5 Unbeatable Views In Dublin

If you’re a budding photographer, an Instagram fanatic or just appreciate a great view, Dublin has something for you. Whether you prefer cityscapes, mountain panoramas or coastal views, the best thing about the city is our proximity to all three. Our Dublin city centre accommodation is ideally located to explore everything Irelands capital has to offer, some of which is within walking distance. l Here are our picks of the top 5 unbeatable views in Dublin.

1. Guinness Storehouse Gravity Bar

No visit to Dublin is complete without a stop-off at the Guinness Storehouse. After you’ve learned about the brewing and the history of this iconic stout, head to the Gravity Bar on the top floor for an unbeatable cityscape. The newly redecorated bar shaped like the top of a pint of Guinness offers stunning 360-degree panoramic views of the city. You’ll see our gorgeous landmarks with a bird’s eye view, like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Liberties and Trinity College. The best part is you can enjoy a freshly pulled pint of the black stuff from their bar on the same floor while you enjoy the view.

2. Talbot Memorial Bridge

While it’s not at the top of many lists of scenic parts of Dublin, we love the views from the Matt Talbot Memorial Bridge. Named after a poor Dubliner with a fondness for the drink, Matt Talbot turned away from alcohol and turned to the church, campaigning for abstinence and lived a saintly life thereafter. Standing in the centre of the bridge, one side shows you old Dublin with its Georgian landscape and iconic Ha’penny Bridge and the other is the more modern part of the city with high tech moving bridges and skyscrapers, both of which are beautiful in their own way.

3. Great South Wall

One of Dublin’s most recognisable landmarks are the white and red chimneys on the coastline, the Poolbeg towers. They’re not much to look at up close but if you’d like to take some stunning pictures of them alongside the Dublin coastline, take a stroll down the four-mile-long Great South Wall, which was until recently one of our hidden gems. This gorgeous walkway juts straight out to the Irish Sea, leading to another landmark, the charming bright red Poolbeg Lighthouse. From this angle, you can look back at the city, including the iconic towers that are a central part of the Dublin skyline.

4. Brey to Greystones

Technically we’re cheating with this one as neither location is in the county of Dublin, but you can still see Dublin! Take a scenic 30-minute ride on the DART to Bray and start the Bray to Greystones walk for some of the best coastal views of Dublin and beyond. It’s a moderately easy walk but you will need a certain level of fitness and abilities. The walk should take approximately 2 hours at a moderate pace and there are no stops along the way so make sure to bring plenty of water and your camera to capture the stunning coastal views. Finish your walk with lunch in Greystones village, then either walk or catch the dart back to Bray.

5. Montpelier Hill

Did you know that Dublin has its very own haunted house? Montpellier Hill, better known as the location of the Hell Fire Club, in the Dublin Mountains and is a great place for an afternoon walk or an evening stroll to tell ghost stories. The walk from the car park to the top of the hill is around 4.5km of forest roads and tracks, suitable for experienced walkers with moderate abilities. The abandoned, roofless, hunting lodge at the top of the hill is said to be the site of many scary events and supernatural visitors. Besides the scary stories, the view across Dublin are unrivaled, giving you a bird’s eye view of the city, especially if you go at twilight.
