With just an 8 minute walk from Temple Meads Train Station and 10 minutes stroll from the heart of Bristol’s historic centre, you won’t need to travel too far to mix business and pleasure. As a perfect alternative to the traditional hotel stay, in our serviced apartments, you can enjoy the comfort and luxury of a hotel with the convenience and space of your own home away from home.

We have compiled a list of our top 5 favourite things to do whilst visiting Bristol. Although the list extends far beyond just 5, here are our top recommendations of things to enjoy in the Spring season.

1. Cabot Tower

Voted in Trip Advisor’s top 3 things to do in Bristol is the Cabot Tower. Cabot Tower is situated at a public park on Brandon Hill and is one of the most popular picnic spots in the city. Standing 105 feet high, the tower is set 260 feet above the harbour and is a sight to see. It opened in 1898 as a 400th anniversary monument to commemorate the discover voyage of John Cabot as he set sail to the Americas in 1497. You can enjoy amazing panoramic views of the city during one of its spectacular sunsets and at night the tower has a beacon that flashes a message in Morse Code. Although you must visit to find out what that message is!

Within just a short distance from PREMIER SUITES Redcliffe you will find the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, 3 floors and 19 galleries of living, breathing fascination. Not only does it have an abundant display of artefacts and exhibits, the museum itself is situated in a beautiful Edwardian building whose architecture would entice a visit all on its own. The best part? The museum is free for all visitors.

3. The Ashton Court Estate

The Ashton Court Estate is an 850 acre woodland and grassland country park with a sixteenth-century mansion situated on it. Although the mansion is not open to the public and only available for special events, general admission to the park is usually free, unless there is a special event on. A plethora of activities are always underway at the estate and include such things as:

  • Ballooning (in fact, the annual Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is always held at Ashton Court Estate)
  • A variety of fitness classes
  • Horseback riding with a wonderful trail through the grounds
  • Mountain biking
  • Three courses of orienteering
  • A free 5k parkrun every Saturday
  • Disc golf
  • 3-2-1 running route

Ashton Estate also has two onsite cafés for casual dining serving wholesome and delicious foods.

4. St. Mary’s Redcliffe Church

St. Mary’s Redcliffe has stood for over 800 years in witness to God and is a beautiful display of craftsmanship from generations of Christians from long ago, when Bristol first became a port. The remarkable gothic architecture makes for wonderful tour when visiting the city. Not only does it function as a beautiful church with traditional Christian services, it is also home to some of the city’s greatest jazz concerts every Wednesday evening. Visits are free, but donations are also accepted and appreciated. Beautifully stated on the website, “the Church is open daily for all to visit, reflect, pray, join in formal worship or simply “be”.”

5. The Bristol Hippodrome

The Bristol Hippodrome is a theatre located in the centre of Bristol, just walking distance from our location and has been voted one of the Country’s top family friendly theatres for showcasing both West End and Broadway productions. The curtains rose for the very first time at the Hippodrome on 16 December 1912 and has since been showcasing musicals, ballet, opera, concerts, comedians and children’s shows!

An extremely distinct feature of this Victorian designed building is the opening of the dome in the roof above the stalls. Now that the auditorium is centrally air-cooled, the dome is rarely used. However, many audiences have marvelled at this event during intervals and still request its opening. This is one of the only operating domes still functioning in the UK.
