March

Bristol’s mighty Bears face off against Twickenham’s own Harlequins on 12th March as part of the Gallagher Rugby Premiership. In their previous visit to Ashton Gate Stadium, it took Harlequins until the 67th minute to best our home team, scoring 2 tries in the final 25 minutes to secure a 29-38 away win. We have our fingers crossed that Bristol Bears will finish this match stronger and secure a big win.

March is a month for horse racing, topped off with a visit to Cheltenham Festival from 14-17th. Cheltenham is the pinnacle event of the jump-racing calendar, the one they all long to win. You are guaranteed a week of greatness with some of the finest horses, jockeys, trainers, breeders, owners and fans turning out in their thousands to rewrite history with a win. The train between Bristol Temple Meads and Cheltenham takes just over an hour, the perfect commute to count your winnings!

April

Sports of all types are welcome in Bristol, including one of the more popular games, Cricket. Yorkshire CCC (Vikings) head to Bristol to play Gloucestershire CCC at their home in Seat Unique Stadium between 13-16th April. The game is part of the LV= INSURANCE County Championship and tickets go on sale in March. The stadium is a 45-minute walk from our serviced apartment accommodation in Bristol and is lined with great places to eat and drink.

On 14th April, Bristol Bears v Sale Sharks takes place in the Ashton Gate Stadium as part of the Gallagher Rugby Premiership. The sides have faced off excellently in the past with lots of exciting twists and turns in scoring. The Bears beat the Sharks in their last head-to-head but can they do it again?

May

The Badminton Horse Trials take place in May and are one of only 6 annual Concours Complet International (CCI) 5-Star events in the country. It’s a thrilling, 5-day event that takes place in Badminton House. The equestrian event was first held in 1949 and was originally a competition to allow British riders to train for international events. It’s now one of the more prestigious horse riding events in the UK with a prize fund of £105,000.

There is plenty of cricket in May in the Seat Unique Stadium. Gloucestershire V Durham on 18th May as part of the county championship is followed by Gloucs V Glamorgan on 24th May as part of the Vitality Blast. The city lights up when there are cricket matches afoot with bars and restaurants showing the game while they entertain patrons.

June

May might be all about men’s cricket but June and July it’s the ladies time to shine. The Women’s Ashes take place from 22 June to 28th July 2023 and are an exciting time in women’s sports. The Women’s Ashes is a biennial women’s international cricket series between England and Australia with a hotly contested rivalry between the two nations. Determined on a points system, taking into account 50-over one-day games, T20s, and Test matches, it’s a long and exciting competition with lots of opportunities for trips to Bristol.
