Set Jetting In Birmingham

Set Jetting In Birmingham

Film buffs, TV fans, and Peaky Blinders obsessives, Birmingham is packed with screen locations and experiences tied to your favourite shows. If you’re staying in serviced apartments Birmingham, you are in a great spot to explore filming locations across the city without having to travel far.

Here is your guide to set jetting around Birmingham, with a mix of iconic locations, behind the scenes tours, and experiences worth checking out while you are here.

Line of Duty Series 6

While Line of Duty mostly filmed in Belfast, Series 6 used Birmingham city centre to double as an unnamed UK city. Walk through Colmore Row, the Jewellery Quarter, and the business district and you might recognise the backdrop from car chases, tense interviews, and bent copper drama.

If you want to see one of the key filming sites, head to Birmingham City Library, which stands in as the headquarters of the fictional Central Police.

This Town (2024)

Created by Steven Knight, the same man behind Peaky Blinders, This Town is a BBC drama focused on Birmingham’s 1980s music scene.

Filming took place across the city, with key scenes shot in local music venues, terraces, and suburbs. While some were purpose built, you can still wander around areas like Kings Heath, Digbeth, and Perry Barr, where much of the show was set.

If you are into music history, this one is a bonus. Some of the venues used are still open today.

Kingsman The Golden Circle

You might not expect it, but Kingsman The Golden Circle filmed some of its most memorable scenes at the Library of Birmingham.

The library’s modern architecture and sweeping rooftop views were used as the interior for the Statesman’s US headquarters. It is free to enter and worth visiting even if you have never seen the film. Take the lift to the upper floors and get a bird’s eye view of the city. Bring your phone for some great photos while you are there.

Citizen Khan

This sitcom, centred on a self styled community leader in Sparkhill, is pure Birmingham. The show was filmed in and around Sparkhill and the surrounding suburbs, just south of the city centre.

While it is not exactly a tourist trail, a walk around Sparkhill gives a feel for the show’s setting. Vibrant, local, and full of personality. You will pass independent shops, curry houses, and community hubs that reflect the series’ charm.

Peaky Blinders Experiences

Even though much of Peaky Blinders was filmed elsewhere, Birmingham has embraced the seriesand there are plenty of ways to dive in while you are here.

1. Escape Live Peaky Blinders

Located in the Jewellery Quarter, this official Peaky Blinders escape room lets you solve puzzles and uncover hidden secrets tied to the Shelby family. Ideal for groups, rainy days, or fans looking to immerse themselves in the story.

2. Peaky Blinders Nights at Black Country Living Museum

Just a 30 minute drive from Birmingham, the Black Country Living Museum was a regular filming location for the series. Their Peaky Blinders nights include live performances, costume dress up, and themed food and drink.

3. Peaky Blinders Tours

You can join walking tours that guide you through Birmingham’s real life gangland history, with stops at spots connected to the actual Peaky Blinders and the TV show. Some include pub stops and photo opportunities with period graffiti art.

4. Peaky Blinders Themed Restaurant

Head to The Garrison, a themed bar and restaurant inspired by the show. You will find it decked out in 1920s decor with cocktails named after key characters. Book ahead, especially at weekends.
