Rising Star: Max Meerema, Operations Manager, PREMIER SUITES Rotterdam
At PREMIER SUITES, we know hospitality is about more than service – it’s about people. And one of our people, Max Meerema, has just been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award. This is an incredible honour that recognises innovation, leadership, and passion. But here’s the twist: the final winner is decided by public vote – and that’s where you come in.
From Intern to Industry Innovator
From his early days helping in his family’s boutique hotel to leading key sustainability and operational initiatives across our Dutch properties, Max has consistently gone above and beyond. Max’s story with PREMIER SUITES began in 2020 behind the front desk, but he’s always been destined for bigger things. From an intern supporting the launch of a new property during a pandemic to becoming Operations Manager in Rotterdam, he’s worn many hats – team leader, social media champion, sustainability advocate, even in-house pizza chef!
Whether he’s building teams, organising unforgettable guest socials, or streamlining operations, Max leads with energy, empathy, and excellence.

ESG – property: PREMIER SUITES Edinburgh Fountain Court
PREMIER SUITES Edinburgh Fountain Court has quickly emerged as a beacon of sustainability and service excellence. The property’s sustainability journey began well before we opened our doors in June 2023, with the complete refurbishment of our buildings – designed with sustainability in mind.
BREEAM In-Use
In February 2025, PREMIER SUITES Edinburgh Fountain Court proudly announced the achievement of BREEAM In-Use certification, a globally recognised standard for sustainable building performance. This certification reflects the property’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact while enhancing guest comfort and experience.
Only around 10% of refurbished buildings in the United Kingdom achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating, making this accreditation a significant achievement.
Carbon Scores
We completed a carbon calculator assessment to review the carbon footprint made from each of our apartments. This also enables our guests to see the impact that their stay has on the environment and allows them to make more informed decisions. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and we invite our guests to be part of our journey toward a greener future.
The international carbon footprint benchmark for serviced apartments currently stands at 14.34 kg of CO2-e per guest night.
At PREMIER SUITES Edinburgh Fountain Court, we are proud to offer a low carbon footprint of just 4.06kg CO2-e per guest night.
From LED lighting and smart thermostats to EV charging points and an eco-conscious procurement strategy, our commitment to a net-zero future is clear. We’re also proud to be awaiting Green Tourism certification and continue to push forward initiatives that engage guests and staff alike in greener living.
