Bristol Light Festival

If you’re lucky enough to have an early half term this year, Bristol Light Festival will run from 2 – 11th February 2024. this very special festival brings colour, light and play to city centre spaces with a series of commissions from local and internationally renowned artists. It’s a truly eye-opening festival that takes place as soon as it gets dark and illuminates spaces around the city with colour and different themes. Most events are free and unticketed and it’s a great way to spend a couple of hours in the evenings instead of spending them in front of a screen.

The Gruffalo

Fans of this adorable character will love the Gruffalo’s Child and her adventurous mission at the Redgrave Theatre on the 10th & 11th of February. It’s an enchanting adaptation of the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler that is sure to entertain young and old. It’s suitable for theatre lovers from ages 3 to 103 and tickets start at £15.

The Great Big Dinosaur Show

Why are children obsessed with Dinosaurs? It might be the novelty of extinct creatures, their funny names, or the sheer size of these magnificent beasts! No matter the reason, dino lovers of all ages will love The Great Big Dinosaur Show at the Wardrobe Theatre. Join poet Simon Mole and musician Gecko for a family show for ages 4-11 full of poems, raps, and songs about all of our favourite prehistoric heroes. The show is on 12th Feb for one day only and tickets start from £10 per child.

Exciting Science

Another excellent show in Redgrave Theatre this year is Exciting Science with interactive displays and demonstrations ensuring an educational and fun day out for children aged four and up. On 13th February the theatre turns into a laboratory demonstrating fun & fact-filled experiments like a volcanic eruption, turning a vacuum cleaner into a missile launcher or aiming at you with their smoke blaster! Shows start at 11am & 2pm and last approximately 80 minutes with an interval for bathroom breaks – always appreciated at a kid’s show!
