Free Things To Do In Rotterdam

Rotterdam is a wonderful city to explore. Between flights, accommodation and food, we can understand that some trips come at a cost. Below are some ideas on how you can spend your time wisely in Rotterdam, without spending a penny.

Arboretum Trompenburg

Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum is a beautiful botanical garden with a large collection of trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs and tubers. The garden is located on the edge of the centre of Rotterdam in the Kralingen district, where you can escape the hectic city and enjoy some peace and tranquillity here on the 8 hectares. For green lovers, you can find anything and everything here from finding traditional gardens in an English style, but also a modern food forest in development and a photogenic desert greenhouse. Trompenburg is of great value in the field of biodiversity and natural history. We have been a registered museum for several years.

Boat Trip

Rotterdam is surrounded by water, so the most obvious way to spend a sunny summer day is by taking a boat trip! Choose from a slow cruise along the canals or you can take the thrill-seekers Spido boat, which takes you all around Rotterdam’s port, complete with outside seats and a bar which serves food and drinks.

Euromast

When visiting Rotterdam you must take a visit to one of the highest towers in Holland, the Euromast. Here you will get to see the city from a unique perspective, just high enough to see and absorb the city’s true beauty. Take the Euroscoop to the top. For the thrill seeker of the trip, don’t go down with the elevator, you can do so with a rope! From the Euromast you can experience the highest abseil in Europe.

Rotterdam Zoo

There are plenty of family-friendly activities and facilities in the zoo including kid’s workshops, playgrounds and numerous restaurants.

Het Park

The Het Park is better known as the park at the Euromast –one of the oldest parks in Rotterdam. The trees are more than a hundred years old, walk along the golden leaves and be sure to keep an ear out for some bustling wildlife, tawny owl breeds can be found in the followers as well as woodpeckers and freshwater muscles in the water ponds.
