Glasgow’s Christmas Lights Switch On
20th November is the official start of the Christmas season in Glasgow with the switching on of the Christmas lights. George Square, the location of our serviced apartment accommodation in Glasgow, is Christmas central with thousands of twinkling lights and lots of festive cheer. Glasgow Loves Christmas is bringing back the free switch-on event for the first time since 2019. The event is ticketed, and tickets are free of charge. It’s a really popular event in the Glasgow festive calendar so apply for tickets soon to avoid disappointment. We’re also looking forward to family favourites like the Blessing of the Crib in George Square, Baby’s First Christmas and the Glasgow Santa Dash taking place across the season.

Another unusual Glasgow tour that will take you off the beaten track is Glasgow Running Tour. A running tour is exactly what it sounds like, a guided sightseeing tour that happens while running. It’s ideal for fitness fanatics who love to discover a new place as fast as possible! You’ll take in the major landmarks but also some lesser-known sights you won’t find in the tour book with buildings and statues, street art and plenty of local legends along the way. There are stops along the way to hear stories and ask questions and most importantly, catch your breath! The run starts and finishes on George Square is around 8km and lasts 90 mins. It’s a great way to warm up in the nippy winter chill.
