Bristol Christmas Markets
Shopping in Bristol is always a good experience. We have a great blend of household names and luxury brands alongside high-street favourites. We’re a unique city and this is reflected on our shopping streets with a selection of small and independent businesses rubbing shoulders with industry giants. Areas like Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade, Cabot Circus and Quakers Friars have everything you need to start, or finish, your Christmas list.
This year, we’re delighted to see the return of the Bristol Christmas Market. Located in the heart of Bristol City Centre, the Christmas market is home to over 35 unique stalls selling gifts, cosmetics, candles, decorations, toys and more. You’ll enjoy festive entertainment during the market dates and get the chance to visit Santa and his elves. Adults can chill in the cosy Jäger Barn Bar and groups will love the new Christmas escape room, The Candy Factor.
Festive Theatre in Bristol
We’re a creative bunch and that’s even more obvious over the festive season when our theatres light up with Christmas shows and pantos. Panto is a tradition stretching back many generations and a perfect way to make new memories with the ones you love. We’re always impressed by the variety of shows, from local theatre in community halls to large-scale productions in the top venues in the city. Some shows to keep an eye out for this year include;
- A Christmas Carol in Bristol Hippodrome from 14th Nov 2023 to 18th Nov 2023
- Oliver Twist in the Tobacco Factory from 1st Dec 2023 to 21st Jan 2024
- Four Seasons in Bristol Old Vic from 2nd Dec 2023 to 7th Jan 2024
- Annie at Bristol Hippodrome 20th to 25th November 2023
- The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan in Bristol Hippodrome from 2nd Dec 2023 to 31st Dec 2023
Christmas Light Trails around Bristol
There is something so special about experiencing the city you love illuminated at night by thousands of twinkling lights. Bristol City goes all out with Christmas decorations with almost every street, shop, corner and post decorated in December. Corn Street in the Old City is transformed into Bristol’s answer to Carnaby Street with eight illumined love lyrics adorning the historic street, perfect for that special family photo. An amazing display of more than a mile of festoon lighting will run through Bristol City Centre from Queen’s Road and Park Street to Old City and King Street, the perfect company for Christmas shopping. The Christmas Tree in The Mall Gardens in Clifton is one of the most impressive in the city. Wrap up well, grab a hot chocolate and enjoy a light trail in Bristol.
Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum
We’re especially excited for an Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum, where the magic of the festive season comes to life. Let your imagination run wild as you wander through the trees of the Arboretum which are illuminated with colour. It’s an unforgettable experience for the whole family with sparkling lights, festive sounds, and mesmerising installations, the perfect backdrop for a family photo. On your way in and out, you can enjoy the Christmas village complete with food & drink stalls and traditional fairground rides. The installations run on selected dates from 26th November until 23rd December and tickets start from £21 for adults.
