Autumn In Dublin

Autumn is one of the nicest seasons to visit Dublin. The weather is slightly more predictable, there are fewer tourists, and the mood of the city is more relaxed. Parks and gardens show the colours of the season with beautiful yellow, red, and orange leaves everywhere. You’re also less likely to queue for the best attractions and more likely to get a seat in the best restaurants. As a home of spooky stories and the inimitable Bram Stoker, it’s no surprise that there are many things to do in Dublin around Halloween too. Book your stay in PREMIER SUITES Leeson Street and enjoy comfortable central accommodation in Dublin.

Halloween in Dublin

There are always fun activities around Halloween in Dublin. You’ll find storytelling sessions in the back rooms of pubs, Halloween theme nights in clubs and lots of spooky theatre performances. One of the highlights of Halloween in Dublin is The Nightmare Realm in Smithfield. This award-winning interactive indoor scream park is guaranteed to get your adrenaline going during the spooky season. There are maze attractions to cater to every fear, the little museum of horrors, The banshee experience, Halloweentown and after all of that, if you haven’t lost your appetite, there is a food court to refuel. Puca Festival also returns to County Meath (about an hour away by car) celebrating Ireland as the birthplace of Halloween.

Indoor Activities in Dublin

The weather in Dublin during Autumn is cool and crisp, but that doesn’t mean it won’t rain! Luckily, there are lots of indoor things to do in Dublin to keep you amused. We have dozens of free indoor attractions like our national museums and galleries, which often have family-friendly activities during school holidays. Dublin is compact and walkable (even in the rain!) so shopping won’t leave you too damp. We have fun centres for families, cinemas showing the latest blockbusters and even some unique attractions like escape rooms to keep you entertained and dry. To see the best of the city from the comfort of a vehicle, why not take a Dublin tour bus and hop on and off as often as you like.

Local Parks in Dublin City

If you’re lucky enough to enjoy a crisp dry day in Dublin we recommend visiting the local parks. St Stephens Green, a large city park on the doorstep of our serviced apartment accommodation in Dublin, was recently named one of the most tranquil places in the world by the luxury travel website SpaSeekers. A little further afield, Stephens Green is the largest walled park in Europe and home to some select residents including a herd of wild deer and the President of Ireland. Dublin Zoo is also located in Phoenix Park and makes a great day out for the whole family, or an alternative date. You’ll see signs of Autumn in local gardens, window boxes and along tree-lined streets.

Autumn Events in Dublin

Dublin has a packed events schedule all year round, not just when the sun shines. You can always enjoy Dublin’s theatres, but the Dublin Theatre Festival from late September is a highlight of the events calendar. You’ll find shows, concerts and workshops in the Abbey Theatre, Bord Gais, Three Arena, Olympia Theatre, Gaiety Theatre and more. The fortnight-long autumn Fringe Festival will bring you some more unusual and controversial shows too. Sports ramp up in autumn too with lots of football fixtures, Gaelic games played in Croke Parka and Rugby in Dublin 4. There is always something on in Dublin if you know where to look.

Drinking and Dining in Dublin

With fewer tourists and without the Christmas rush, you’re more likely to have your pick of places to eat and drink in Dublin in Autumn. You can choose excellent local restaurants like the award-winning FX Buckey for steak, French-inspired fine dining in Dax or express lunch in the beautiful House. If you want to experience Irish traditional music and dancing, head across the city to Temple Bar to grab a couple of pints and a show. For a more authentic pub experience, Foleys, O’Donoghue’s and Doheny and Nesbitt are great locals a short walk from your Dublin accommodation. It never rains in the pub!
