48 Hours In Glasgow

When you think of Scotland, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For some, it’s the rolling highlands and searching for Nessie in our gorgeous lakes. In reality, much of Scotland is a metropolis of business, history and a thriving trading heritage. Glasgow is a prime example of a beautiful city with an abundance of shopping, dining and cultural attractions. If you’re visiting for a weekend break, you’ll be wondering what to do in Glasgow. Here are some of our best suggestions

Day 1

Morning:

Start with breakfast ‘at home’ in our serviced apartment on Glasgow’s popular Bath Street. Each of our apartments comes with a fully equipped kitchen as standard, saving you not only money & time but allowing you the freedom to eat what you want when you want it. After a hearty breakfast washed down by a Nespresso from your personal machine, head out to explore Glasgow. You might want to take advantage of the 48-hour hop on hop off bus tours, allowing you the freedom of the city with shelter from the rain! Do the entire route once, then go again, hopping off at spots of interest.

Afternoon:

Spend your first afternoon at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in the city’s west end. There are over 8,000 objects covering art, archaeology, and natural history all enclosed in the magnificent red sandstone building. Afterwards, wander along Byres Road and stop in one of the gorgeous cafes or restaurants for a spot of lunch. After a relaxing afternoon, head to Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens to see their collection of flora and plant life, making sure to drop into Kibble Palace, an exquisite restored Victorian glasshouse.

Evening:

After a busy day of enjoying the city, you’ll want to explore the city at night. After a meal in one of Glasgow’s excellent restaurants, maybe enjoying a native dish like neeps and tatties or haggis, you should check out Glasgow’s thriving music scene. Glasgow’s reputation for live music is legendary, we have even been awarded UNESCO City of Music status. The SSE Hydro is where you’ll catch all the big names, for classical and world sounds head to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall or see up-and-coming artists at the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

Day 2:

Morning:

Spend your morning enjoying a feast for the eyes in at the Riverside Museum, one of the most striking buildings in Glasgow. Inside you’ll find all kinds of exhibits related to transport from vehicles and buses to bikes and trains dating from different periods can be found. You can also visit the stunning Tall Ship, situated in the Clyde River, alongside the museum.

Afternoon:

Make your way back toward town for a late lunch and head to the People’s Palace on historic Glasgow Green, a fantastic free museum where you can learn the story of Glasgow’s people. A long day of taking in the sights of the town will give you a right thirst. Stop into WEST Brewery Bar to enjoy a home-brewed pint. It’s set in the beautiful Templeton Building on the edge of the Green.

Evening:

After a jam-packed weekend of seeing Glasgow’s main attractions, you’ll likely want a hearty dinner and an early night but you’re on vacation and where’s the fun in that! if you want to be at the heart of the action, head to the Merchant City area, packed full of trendy cocktail and wine bars, clubs and restaurants.

There are a million and one things to do here and most of the best sights in Glasgow are a stones throw from our centrally located serviced apartments.
