24 Hours in Glasgow

24 hours isn’t nearly long enough to visit all parts of the city but it’s enough to get to know us enough to love the character and soul of our Dear Green Place. If you’re short on time and only have time for a quick stop in Glasgow, there are some parts of the city that you just shouldn’t miss. Don’t spend too long admiring the art in our museums or visiting high street shops you’ll find in every big city, instead stroll along our colourful streets, discover hidden gems, eat some tasty meals and enjoy the atmosphere of Glasgow. Our central location on Bath Street means you can fit in as many bucket list things to do in Glasgow in a short time frame. Here’s how we would spend 24 hours in Glasgow.

9.00am Arrive as early as possible so you can make the most of our one day here. Drop your bags with our reception team in our accommodation in Glasgow. If you need directions, our team are happy to help. Save time by grabbing breakfast on the go from a local café or coffee shop. Oasis Café, tucked away behind the church is a good place to start.

10.00am Make your way to the wonderful Kelvingrove Park, enjoying a 20-minute stroll through the streets and residential areas. The architecture is magnificent in Glasgow so remember to keep your eyes up as you walk along. When you reach Kelvingrove Park, spend an hour enjoying the parkland or head into the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It’s one of Scotland’s most popular free attractions and features 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries so choose carefully or you’ll spend a whole day getting lost in the art.

12.00pm Make your way back through town, searching for some of the city’s most unique shopping. There are dozens of independent shops and retailers in Glasgow so you can pick up something unique in your short time here. Take a wander down Glasgow’s colourful Hidden Lane and you’ll uncover a quirky mix of designers and crafters. If you want to shop high street, St Enoch Centre has some great names in clothing, accessories and homeware. For a more luxury experience, Buchanan Street is Glasgow’s main pedestrianised shopping area lined with all the big names you’d expect.

1.00pm Lunchtime in Glasgow is exciting. We have cuisines to suit all tastes and food from all around the world. Try some traditional Scottish food and drink in the wonderful Mharsanta Restaurant & Bar. You’ll find all sorts of Scottish and international food and drink with many unusual fusion dishes like Haggis Lasagne and Arbroath Smokie Cullen Skink (you’ll have to visit to find out about that one!). Have a drink while you’re there, perhaps a delicious Scottish Whisky? Enjoy 10% off your food bill when you show your PREMIER SUITES room key.

2.00pm Continue walking through the city, keeping your eyes above street level to fully appreciate the beautiful buildings and statues. Pass through George Square on your walk, passing the famous Duke of Edinburgh Statue which has been capped with a traffic cone since the 1980s! Make your way to another of Glasgow’s 90 parks to soak up the late afternoon sun. Glasgow Green is the oldest public park in Glasgow and has some of the most impressive and beautiful architecture in the city. It’s a magical place to take pictures in springtime when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. You can also visit the Winter Gardens and The People’s Palace to learn more about the history of Glasgow and the events that formed the place we love.

6.00pm Make your way back to PREMIER SUITES to check in and freshen up after a long day of exploring. Nighttime is when Glasgow comes alive. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to a show in King’s Theatre Glasgow, Theatre Royal, or Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, it’s a short walk from your Glasgow accommodation. You can enjoy a meal in the magnificent 63rd & 1st and enjoy one of Glasgow’s premier dining experiences. Their menu is a feast for the senses and the quality is superb. PREMIER SUITES guests can enjoy a 20% discount on food and their excellent cocktail menu. It’s a great start or end to a good night. Take a detour to a couple of local pubs on your way home, enjoying Glasgow hospitality and some local Scottish beer. Enjoy a comfortable sleep in our serviced apartments in Glasgow. Wake up rested and ready to hit the road for another adventure. Enjoy a fantastic trip to Glasgow, enjoying top-class accommodation in PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments.
