What we are doing
Reducing our impact on the environment
We communicate our Green Key partnership and Golden certificate through our website and social media. We ask our guests to recycle and separate their waste.
Maintenance & cleaning
Our cleaning products are all biodegradable and are all environment friendly certificated. All of the apartments have kill switches to avoid unneeded utility use.
Growing Our Own
PREMIER SUITES does not offer full Food and Beverage services as all of our apartments are equipped with fully functional kitchens. We offer “Homegrown Greens”, a planter filled with herbs and spices, like red pepper, for our guests to use and spice up their own culinary masterpieces.
We have a dedicated Green Key team in all of our properties. They look after the CSR standard for the property and communicate our actions and achievements to the rest of the team through presentations.
We offer city bikes to our guests and have cycling routes and running maps available at reception and in our wellbeing corner. We offer exercise videos and free entrance to our professional in-house gym, to guests and team members.
We select our suppliers locally, if possible, to reduce transportation distance. We also try to buy in bulk to reduce packaging. We’ve replaced single use bathroom amenities for dispenser bottles which reduced waste immediately. We don’t use plastic cups, straws or anything plastic, instead we use biodegradable products.
Home away from home
PREMIER SUITES Rotterdam is located opposite the Central Station, in the center of Rotterdam. Being strategically located within a stone’s throw from the train station motivates our guests to travel via public transport and leave their car at home.
In 2017 the building was converted from an office building to 104 apartments spread over 9 floors and 7 floors with office spaces. The entrance uses sensors to open the doors. In addition, we have a Double Door Airlock system. The double doors at the front of the building create an airlock that prevents substantial amounts of heat or cool air from escaping the building when entering and exiting.
This building strategy prevents energy-consuming drafts and makes the building more energy-efficient. The windows throughout the building are double glazed and we are using a Hotel Key-card switch for electricity and climate control in the apartment. We also try to recruit new colleagues who live nearby to reduce transportation.
We believe that you are as strong as the partners you work with. Our suppliers are chosen on several criteria such as sustainability goals, local instead of national and quality. As an example of partnerships there are a few restaurants in the area e.g.:‘the Gallery Kitchen’ and Restaurant ’Ayla’ but also local bike rental company “MyHotelBike” and local brewery “Brouwerij Noordt”.
Since PREMIER SUITES has multiple properties we also try to buy in bulk for multiple properties to reduce costs but also transportation and packaging.
We encourage our guests to use eco-friendly transportation alternatives such as public transport, walking, or biking to get to their destination. We provide city bikes to our guests and have cycling routes and running maps available at the reception and in our wellbeing corner. We offer exercise videos and free entrance to all of our guests and team members to a professional in-house gym. At our reception, we also offer day tickets for public transport, so that guests are less likely to use the car in the city.
There are charging stations for electric cars in the parking garage behind our hotel. Guests can activate this charging station with their own tag/phone.
We support “Beyond the Moon”, an organisation that looks after family holidays for families that have a (terminally) ill children or a child with physical disabilities. Their situation often implies that they need extra care during a vacation which often is very expensive. Beyond the moon raises funds to support those families.
Spread the message
We offer our guests the possibility to recycle glass, plastic and paper on each floor. We communicate our Green Key partnership and Golden certificate through our website and social media pages.
Pollution is one of the biggest issues in our environment and we believe that everyone should take part in their daily lives to reduce this ongoing problem. We try to make a difference by consuming less in our hotel.
We try to buy in bulk to reduce packaging. We’ve replaced single-use bathroom amenities with dispenser bottles which reduced waste immediately.
We don’t use plastic cups, stirs, straws, or any other single-use plastic. Instead, we use biodegradable products. In addition, all coffee capsules in the apartments and the lobby are biodegradable and are disposed of in a special container.
At the moment we are in the process of removing all paper welcome folders from the apartments and by scanning a QR code, guests can find all the hotel information and manuals online on their phones or laptop.
