Sustainability in our Serviced Apartments in Glasgow

Environmental sustainability is an important part of everyday life but a relatively new concept in the world of tourism. Sustainability is not just a buzzword in our serviced apartment accommodation. We have put into place some real and measurable changes to the way we operate in order to reduce our production of waste, reduce our energy consumption and try to lessen our carbon footprint. Read more about the sustainability programme for our accommodation in Glasgow and across all of our locations, visit our website. Here are some ways we are improving sustainability within our serviced apartments in Glasgow and how you can help

Training & Education

We believe that the most important change we can make to our attitudes about sustainability is through education and awareness. Each of our team members, from staff to management, are aware of our policies and actively work to improve the overall rating for the property. We have built regular reviews into our usual health and safety checks and have included a sustainability audit for each department of the hotel. Each department of the hotel has individual goals and targets, working together to improve the sustainability of our Glasgow accommodation.

Waste Reduction

All waste represents an inefficient use of resources and energy. We try to reduce the quantity of waste generated and regularly review routes whereby waste can be eliminated or reduced or recycled. We have limited the availability of single-use plastic products for both guests and within our housekeeping practices. For example, the shower and toiletry products we provide within our suites are contained within refillable bottles and we reuse as much as we can in our daily work routines. All waste is disposed of responsibly. Our staff will ensure they comply with waste disposal requirements set out by our policies and best practice.

Energy Usage

We strive to improve our carbon footprint and reduce energy wastage without impacting our level of service and comfort for our guests. We promote the efficient use of energy by our staff through the use of energy surveys, improved housekeeping, control of processes and the efficient use of service engineer resources. Guests can help by being conscious of the energy they use within the suites, remembering to turn off & unplug appliances when they’re not in use and closing windows to retain heat without the need for artificial heating.

How can you help?

There are many ways a guest can help us to improve our sustainability in PREMIER SUITES Glasgow, many of which are great for your stay or at home.
Turn off the water. With a constant supply of fresh, hot and cold water on tap, it’s easy to forget that water is one of our most valuable natural resources. Don’t leave the tap running when you brush your teeth, choose showers over baths and be mindful when you are washing dishes. Make sure to fill the washing machine and dishwasher to capacity before you turn it on to make sure you are getting the best result and reducing the amount of water needed for multiple runs.

Reduce waste any way you can. Maybe that means refilling a water bottle at home or saying no to the extra bag when you are out shopping. The less waste you take into your serviced apartment in Glasgow, the less we have to dispose of. Help us by separating your rubbish before it goes into the bin.

Little changes, done consistently are the key to reducing our carbon footprint. Conserving energy is easily done when you know how and will not negatively impact your stay. Unplug and switch off any appliances when not in use, especially if you are not at home. Charge your phone before you go to sleep instead of overnight.

Ditch the car. Our location in the heart of Glasgow means anything you want to see in the city is likely within walking distance. you won’t need cars, taxis or buses to get around and if you’re stuck, the Nextbike cycle hire scheme offers bike hire from stations across the city with membership available from £3 per day.
