Sustainability in our Serviced Apartments in Dublin

Sustainability in tourism is a relatively new concept but at PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments in Dublin, it’s not just a buzzword. Sustainability is an important part of our everyday life in PREMIER SUITES. We work hard to reduce our property’s impact on the environment and have put into place some important and measurable policies to reduce our waste production and carbon footprint without impacting the standard of service for our guests. We believe that education in sustainability is the only way to make a real change so our staff, management and guests are well informed of our efforts and how they can help. Here’s how our accommodation in Dublin reduces our impact on the environment.

Monitor & Improve

The best way to keep tabs on how we impact the environment is by regular monitoring. We have included a review of our environmental performance into our regular health & safety inspections and audits. We monitor and manage environmental performance in our operations through environmental risk assessments. Through this, we improve our operating procedures to reduce any damage to the environment to its lowest practical level throughout all departments of the business. PREMIER SUITES promotes the efficient use of energy by its staff through the use of energy surveys, improved housekeeping, control of processes and the efficient use of service engineer resources. We welcome tips and suggestions from staff and guests on how we can improve further.

Our Accreditations

All of our UK and Irish PREMIER SUITES locations have been awarded ECOsmart Silver accreditation, an industry standard for accommodation providers who provide an eco-friendly approach to tourism and other industries. We also have joined Green Tourism, a sustainability certification programme and await our grading. Our eco-friendly approach is applied to five key areas of the business:

  • Energy and Water Conservation
  • Waste Management & Recycling
  • Rooms and Facilities
  • Food and Beverage
  • Corporate and Social Responsibility

Waste Reduction

We strive to reduce waste production in each of our properties. We regularly review routes whereby waste can be eliminated or reduced or recycled. We have limited the availability and distribution of single-use products and encourage our guests to only use what they need. We pledge to dispose of unavoidable waste responsibly. We have also paired with preferred suppliers who conduct their business in as eco-friendly manner as possible.

How Can Guests Help?

There are many small ways that guests can help us to reduce our carbon footprint. These include:

  • Opting out of service. If your room does not need to be cleaned, you can request a service-free visit. This will reduce the need for unnecessary chemicals, water and plastic bags during your visit.
  • Reusing your towels is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint during your stay. Changing towels daily means extra chemicals, water and energy are used to wash more. Hang up towels to let us know you intend to reuse them.
  • Switching off all appliances and switches in the suite before you leave is a great way to reduce energy consumption at no cost to your comfort. It’s also a way to prolong the life of your appliances and is a part of our fire safety awareness.
  • Reduce waste. Guests can help us to reduce the waste produced by our property by choosing to buy locally produced and unwrapped products in the area. Say no to that extra bag when you’re shopping. Guests can also help by separating their waste in-suite to make it easier for us to recycle.
  • Say no to cars. Our location in Dublin is within easy reach of many tourist attractions and sights. Saying no to cars and instead choosing public transport, walking or bikes reduces emissions.
  • Save water. With a constant supply of hot and cold water, it’s easy to forget how precious this natural resource is. Save water in small ways by turning off the tap while washing dishes and brushing your teeth and always filling the dishwasher and washing machine fully before switching them on.
  • Reduce energy by switching off lights and closing windows if heating or air conditioning is on. A few small changes by every guest that visits us make a big difference overall.
