Adam’s Restaurant – 15-minute walk
Adam’s is the closest Michelin Starred Restaurant to your Birmingham accommodation, a short 15-minute walk away. Described as a contemporary British fine dining restaurant serving modern dishes, Adam’s should be on the bucket list of every foodie visiting the city. The upscale menu is complemented by the stylish dining room, proving its excellence down to the finest detail. Not only has it been awarded a Michelin Star it’s also the proud winner of three AA Rosettes and a score of 7 in the Good Food Guide.
Purnell’s Restaurant – 15-minute walk
Another relatively close neighbour of ours is the excellent Purnell’s Restaurant, a chic, contemporary fine-dining restaurant run by Michelin-starred celebrity Chef Glynn Purnell. The menu features dishes mainly inspired by the British style of cooking with influence from France and the Far East. The food is impressive and colourful with their signature vibrancy reflected in the presentation. The venue is an impressive Victorian red-brick corner building, designed and decorated to reflect the Chefs lively and colourful personality with a burst of natural light from the large windows on both sides.
Opheem – 20-minute walk
Something a little different next with our only Indian Michelin star restaurant in Birmingham city. Opheem is a plush modern restaurant in the heart of the city, combining traditional and modern techniques of cooking to push the boundaries of the usual Indian flavours. The chef and staff believe that Indian food is the best in the world and have set out on a mission to prove it. Opheem is a short 20-minute walk from your Birmingham accommodation and if you’re a fan of Indian Cuisine it’s well worth a try.
Simpsons – 10-minute drive
Simpsons offers something a little more unique than the usual fine dining experience. The restaurant is part of the Calthorpe Estate and located in a beautiful Georgian Grade II listed building. Also, part of the estate is a wonderful orangery. Simpsons Restaurant seats 70 and offers a separate lounge area and private dining room accommodating 18. The cuisine is described as ‘light, modern dishes based on classical French cuisine’. Their exclusive cookery school also offers you the chance to join the talented chefs and learn how to cook Michelin approved dishes in a fully equipped kitchen.
Carters of Moseley – 12-minute drive
The aim of Carters of Mosely, is to ‘be an expression of British Terroir’ which, to us lay folk, means the restaurant aim to take advantage of a number of factors in their food, including climate, soil and environment which each give British produce a distinctive flavour and character. The menus are developed to follow the rhythms of the seasons, inspired by the changing seasonal ingredients available in any given month and inspired by the producers who work on the British landscape. The restaurant is unassuming and the type of place you may not look twice at not knowing its reputation. The simple and stylish interiors are enhanced by an open kitchen where you can witness the talented team in action.
Peel’s restaurant- 30-minute drive
Peel’s is a little further out of town than our other recommendations but is worth the travel. This excellent fine dining experience is part of the Hampton Manor in Solihull and offers a sophisticated and modern atmosphere complemented by a menu offering the same. Their food and ingredients are inspired by their Victorian walled garden. They are proud of the relationships they have built with their trusted suppliers and only accept the best produce from this island’s farms and shores. They also offer an impressive collection of handcrafted organic and natural wines from their cellar.
If you’re lucky enough to experience any of these unique dining experiences for yourself, make sure your accommodation is equally as impressive.
