Sustainable Stay At PREMIER SUITES Bristol

Sustainability is a real and very important consideration, and every person has a part to play in protecting the future of our planet. Things are changing for the worse faster than anyone could have anticipated, and businesses and individuals have a role in reversing these detrimental changes before it’s too late – which is likely to be within our lifetime! Guests and customers expect brands to demonstrate their commitment to social issues like sustainability and hospitality is no exception. Sustainability in travel has been on our agenda for many years at PREMIER SUITES Bristol. We’re working to make changes from the ground up, changing how we operate to reduce our carbon footprint and that of our guests. Here are some changes you can expect in PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments in Bristol.

  • We follow all government and relevant legislation, ensuring our accommodation in Bristol reaches high standards for our guests and complies with all sustainability and environmental guidance.
  • We try to reduce the quantity of waste generated and regularly review routes whereby waste can be eliminated, reduced, or recycled. We welcome suggestions from guests and staff to further reduce waste within the complex. All waste generated is disposed of properly using licenced and verified suppliers.
  • We monitor and manage environmental performance in our operations through environmental risk assessments. We conduct reviews of our environmental performance, assessing changes and changing our operating standards to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible.
  • The Company promotes the efficient use of energy by its staff through the use of energy surveys, improved housekeeping, control of processes and the efficient use of service engineer resources. Our team are briefed before conducting any task or project on how to keep environmental disturbance to a minimum, for example, waste, noise and dust.
  • We display our initiatives proudly in our property and on our website and encourage guests and team members to get involved, each playing a part in discouraging waste both physical and energy. We also actively promote our green journey through guest communication and on our social media channels.
  • We’re constantly upskilling and recertifying with independent boards to ensure high standards are met and maintained. Our sales manager has attended sustainability webinars hosted by the local destination office. The team regularly update their knowledge via our Eureka training website.
  • We donate any unopened food items left behind by our guests to reduce food waste and hunger. Our Sales Manager, Vicky Snook acts as Food Waste Hero, working with food waste prevention app OLIO.
  • All lights and appliances are switched off when any apartment is vacant to ensure no wasted energy. We also encourage guests to ensure lights and heating are turned off and devices are unplugged when they are not in the apartment.
  • We encourage our guests and staff to shop locally. When we support local farmers, producers, growers and retailers, it reduces the carbon footprint of the produce and eliminates greenhouse emissions from their transport. We encourage the use of reusable bags and water bottles.
  • We love to see guests cooking in our suites and will do anything we can to make the experience more enjoyable. We offer “Homegrown Greens” at our accommodation in Bristol; a planter filled with herbs and spices, like red pepper, for our guests to use and spice up their culinary masterpieces.
  • We offer complementary maps in reception for people who want to explore on foot. Our team are always happy to give directions or recommendations for great running or walking routes. There is a bike rack available within our shared car park area. We are in the process of introducing Electric Charging Points. We also work with the local hospitals promoting their free transport for visitors and patients.
  • We’ve made small changes within our property that together, have a big impact. We have replaced single-use toiletries with dispensers to reduce waste. We now send invoices via email instead of printing. Online payments are offered instead of in-house payments to reduce paper use. There are food waste bins in all apartments. QR codes are used to communicate information to guests instead of printed signs. Physical keys are used instead of plastic key cards. These small changes, across all suites all year round, make a difference to our green planning without impacting the quality of guest stays.
  • We are accredited by Green Tourism, a sustainability certification programme. Green Tourism promotes greener ways for businesses and organisations to operate by offering guidance on the following:

  1. Reducing energy use
  2. Saving water
  3. Efficient & eco-friendly waste disposal
  4. Ethical buying
  5. Staying local & seasonal
  6. Minimising food miles
  7. Promoting biodiversity
  8. Adopting a smart, sustainable outlook from top to bottom
