Glasgow is een van de weinige steden ter wereld waar je ervaringen kunt opdoen die je nog niet eerder hebt gezien. Sommige ervaringen zijn zo uniek Schots dat je ze in geen enkel ander deel van de wereld zult vinden. Hier zijn onze favoriete Schotse ervaringen in en rond Glasgow om uw tijd hier onvergetelijk te maken<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-try-some-haggis\">Probeer wat Haggis&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een van de meest voor de hand liggende culinaire ervaringen om te proberen als je hier bent, is Haggis. Haggis wordt traditioneel gemaakt van de longen, lever en het hart van een schaap, fijngehakt met specerijen, haver, zout, niervet en ui en gekookt in de maag van het schaap. In moderne versies wordt de maag vaak weggelaten omdat dit kunstmatig kan worden gedaan (zeiden ze met een zucht van verlichting!). Dit unieke gerecht is niet ieders smaak, maar als het goed bereid is, is Haggis een heerlijke aanvulling op je Schotse eetrepertoire. U vindt het in de meeste caf\u00e9s en eetgelegenheden en een aangepaste versie in veel verfijnde eetgelegenheden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-fitted-for-a-kilt\">Laat je een Kilt aanmeten&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vergeet de goedkope tartan rommel die je in de souvenirwinkels van Glasgow vindt, een echte kilt kost je wat, maar hij gaat eeuwig mee. Om de kilt van je dromen te laten aanmeten, ga je naar\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hector-russell.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hector Russell<\/a>\u00a0in Buchanan Street, op slechts 10 minuten lopen van onze appartementen in Glasgow. In het ideale geval wilt u een kilt van acht meter, gemaakt van kamgaren van 16\/17oz - maar als u geen idee hebt wat dat betekent, zullen de getalenteerde kleermakers u alle opties uitleggen. Misschien wilt u er nog wat extra's aan toevoegen, zoals een sporran (tasje) of een sgian dhu (een mes dat in de sok wordt gedragen) om u het echte gevoel te geven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-try-some-scottish-whisky\">Probeer wat Schotse Whisky&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het zou een erg droge trip naar Glasgow zijn zonder zelfs maar te proeven van de drank die ons op de kaart zette. Het woord whisky is een vertaling van het Gaelische 'uisge', wat 'levenswater' betekent. Wij nemen onze whisky hier heel serieus en er zijn meerdere distilleerderijen aan het werk om dit vloeibare goud te maken. De Clydeside Distillery geeft bezoekers een uniek voorproefje van enkele van de beste single malt whisky's van Schotland, direct aan de kade. Als u geen zin hebt om de reis te maken, ga dan binnen in een van onze traditionele pubs en vraag een plaatselijke barman om een aanbeveling voor een whisky. Als je geluk hebt, vind je een pub met een knapperend haardvuur en geniet je ervan zoals het bedoeld was.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-spot-scotland-s-big-five\">Spot de grote vijf van Schotland&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geloof het of niet, je hoeft niet op safari om de grote vijf te spotten, in Schotland hebben we onze eigen versie. In plaats van groot wild zoals leeuwen, tijgers en olifanten, kunt u hier edelherten (het grootste landzoogdier van het Verenigd Koninkrijk), steenarenden, otters, rode eekhoorns en gewone zeehonden zien. Sommige zijn in de stad of bij de rivier te vinden, maar voor andere zult u moeten reizen om het geluk te hebben er een glimp van op te vangen. U zult de stad moeten verlaten voor een wildlife cruise, maar als u ze allemaal hebt afgevinkt kunt u terugkeren naar uw luxe appartement in Glasgow voor wat ontspanning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-celebrate-hogmanay\">Vier Hogmanay&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Schotland doen we niet aan Nieuwjaar, maar vieren we Hogmanay met een vlaag van feestjes en vuurwerk. Het feest heeft zijn wortels in de mysterieuze heidense wortels van het land, maar het woord zelf zou afkomstig zijn van het Franse woord \"hoginane\", dat \"gala-dag\" betekent. Het is niet langer een middernachtelijk aftellen, maar tegenwoordig is het meer een festival met evenementen die voor en na de grote dag plaatsvinden. Het is zo'n feest dat we vaak 1 en soms 2 januari vrij moeten nemen om bij te komen!
