Arthurs Seat is een populaire wandeling onder toeristen en de plaatselijke bevolking. De top ligt 251 meter boven de zeespiegel, dus je kunt je het uitzicht vanaf de top wel voorstellen. Neem je wandelschoenen mee of huur een fiets en geniet van de wandeling vanaf de grashelling aan de oostkant die oprijst uit Dunsapie Loch aan Queen's Drive. Wie wel van een uitzicht houdt, maar niet van een inspannende klim, kan genieten van een ontspannen wandeling naar Calton Hill, waar een verzameling opvallende historische monumenten in Griekse stijl te vinden is, evenals The Collective, een galerie voor hedendaagse kunst. We raden een rondleiding door de binnenkant aan om zelf te zien hoe de andere helft leefde, maar als je het druk hebt is alleen al het zien van dit iconische gebouw een must. Als je naar binnen gaat, zie je de Great Hall en St Margaret's Chapel en leer je over de tijd dat het kasteel een militair fort, koninklijke residentie en oorlogsgevangenis was. Er is een tearoom met een aantal van de beste scones in de hoofdstad en de nabijgelegen Mary's Milk Bar heeft de beste gelato die we ooit hebben gehad in een aantal behoorlijk onconventionele smaken.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Bezoek Leith<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leith is een van de meest levendige en opwindende wijken in Edinburgh en is zeker een bezoek waard tijdens uw verblijf. Hier vindt u het beste nachtleven, een unieke winkelscene en een aantal uitstekende eetgelegenheden. The Pitt is de populaire onafhankelijke weekendmarkt van Leith, waar u een scala aan streetfood, ambachtelijk bier en livemuziek vindt. Leith Theatre is een van de belangrijkste attracties hier. Het is gered van de ondergang en is nu een van de beste muziek- en theaterbestemmingen in de stad. Met toonaangevende luxe merkwinkels en onafhankelijke tweedehandswinkels in dezelfde straat hebben we echt alle honken bezet. Een hoogtepunt van het winkelgebied is de kronkelende Victoria Street die van George IV Bridge naar de historische Grassmarket loopt. Hier vindt u de beste selectie van onafhankelijke boetieks van Edinburgh. Je vindt er van alles, van op maat gemaakte tartan kilts tot allerlei Harry Potter-parafernalia met een aantal fantastische eetgelegenheden om bij te tanken. In de nabijgelegen Princes Street vind je niet alleen een aantal grote merknamen zoals Marks and Spencer, Primark, Clarks en Dr Martens aan de ene kant, maar ook een ongerept uitzicht op kasteeltorens en de oude binnenstad van Edinburgh aan de andere kant.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Bezoek de musea van Edinburgh<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wat je artistieke voorkeur ook is, er is altijd wel een Scottish National Gallery die bij je past. Je vindt alles van klassieke tot hedendaagse kunst verspreid over verschillende complexen in de stad. Binnen de grandioze muren vind je een aantal van 's werelds meesterwerken. Een speciale vermelding verdient de portrettengalerij met een aantal indrukwekkende schilderijen. Het National Museum of Scotland is de grootvader van de culturele plekken in de stad en is een opvallende mix van oud en nieuw.
