Here are our tips for getting around in Antwerp:<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-train\">Train<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you know Belgium was the first European Country to build a railway system and today the country has a widespread rail network used by tourists and commuters alike? To get from place to place in Belgium is quite easy and many luxury trains stop in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.belgiantrain.be\/nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antwerp&#8217;s Central Station<\/a> which is 1 km from the city centre. To get between Antwerp train station to the city centre, you could walk, get a taxi or a tram to the city quite easily. If you\u2019re unsure how to get your ticket for a tram, you can always\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.delijn.be\/en\/contact\/faq-detail\/2765\/what-text-message-do-i-send-to-buy-an-sms-ticket-or-sms-day-pass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">use the handy SMS ticket.<\/a>\u00a0You can purchase SMS tickets for Antwerp\u2019s De Lijn trams by texting DLD to 4884.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bike\">Bike<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antwerp really isn\u2019t big enough to warrant renting a car for the duration of your stay, but you may not want to walk everywhere either. For a happy medium, and to ensure you\u2019re getting your daily exercise, why not hire one on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.velo-antwerpen.be\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antwerp\u2019s public bikes on the Velo scheme.<\/a>\u00a0The city has many designated cycling zones and lanes and it\u2019s a safe and easy way to get around. Each Velo bike comes with a built-in lock so don\u2019t forget to lock it to a securely fixed object or drop it back to one of the designated points. Depending how often you visit, you may want a day pass, a week pass or a yearly pass to pick up and drop off bikes as often as you please.
