Traditional Glasgow dishes are a great mixture of high-quality dining with plenty of home-grown vegetables &amp; quality meat combined with a huge selection of curry, fried treats and of course the infamous Haggis! Traditional Glaswegian cuisine can be found in cafes, restaurants and takeaways across the city, taking you on a food tour you won\u2019t forget. Here are some of our favourite traditional Glasgow dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-haggis\">Haggis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ll start with one of the most infamous &amp; well-known Scottish dishes, one which is a \u2018love it or hate it\u2019, even with locals.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theculturetrip.com\/europe\/united-kingdom\/scotland\/articles\/where-to-try-haggis-in-glasgow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Haggis\u00a0<\/a>is traditionally made from a sheep\u2019s lungs, liver and heart minced wit spices, oats, salt, suet and onion and booked inside the lining of the sheep\u2019s stomach, although the intestine part is less common in modern haggis &amp; can be done artificially. It may sound dubious but don\u2019t knock it until you\u2019ve tried it. You can get haggis in most cafes and restaurants serving traditional Glaswegian food. You can even find an adapted version in many fine dining establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chicken-tikka-masala\">Chicken Tikka Masala<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Believe it or not,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shishmahal.co.uk\/tikka-masala\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Chicken Tikka Masala<\/a>\u00a0was first made right here in bonnie Glasgow! It\u2019s no secret that the Brits are fond of a curry so seems right that we perfected one of the nation\u2019s favourites right here in Scotland. The story goes that a customer in the Shish Mahal restaurant in Glasgow complained about the dryness of the traditional Chicken Tikka, which is chicken marinated in spices &amp; yoghurt and baked in a tandoor oven. In response, the chef quickly put together a sauce with spices, coconut cream, cream and Campbell\u2019s tomato soup and a star was born!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-full-scottish\">A Full Scottish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The absolute epitome of morning meals, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.food.com\/recipe\/scottish-lorne-sausages-square-breakfast-sausage-389024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Scottish Breakfast<\/a>\u00a0is quite like the full English apart from a full Scottish breakfast is quite like a full English breakfast, except it comes with black pudding, Lorne (square) sausage, and tattie scones. Haggis is sometimes included, as is white pudding. Lorne Sausage, named after Scottish comedian Tommy Lorne, is a square, pink square gristly sausage commonly found in Glasgow. Tattie or potato scones can seem bland but when served with lashings of real butter, they make a delicious addition to a fry-up and are a healthier alternative to fried bread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scottish-salmon\">Scottish Salmon&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scotland produces some of the finest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishsalmon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Salmon\u00a0<\/a>this side of the world, a lot of which is exported. Scotland is a prime breeding ground for salmon; our water is some of the freshest in Europe, making us the ideal habitat for this elusive marine life. Scottish Salmon is one of the milder flavoured salmon varieties on the market. The higher-fat content of our fish leaves a buttery texture in your mouth and is ideal served with a plateful of leafy greens, also grown in abundance in Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-deep-fried-anything\">Deep-Fried\u2026 Anything!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don\u2019t exactly know where this one started but Glasgow has become well known for deep frying anything we can get our hands on! This includes deep-fried fish, sausages, pizzas and of course the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowliving.today\/culture\/5-places-to-try-a-deep-fried-mars-bar-in-glasgow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">deep-fried mars bar<\/a>\u00a0which was invented in a chip shop near Aberdeen.
