Here is how you can experience some of the history and culture that shapes our town:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-walking-tours\">Walking tours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another unusual fact about Bristol is that the infamous pirate Blackbeard once had a hideaway under St Marys Church in Redcliffe and his original birthplace still stands on the harbourside. You can join one of Bristol\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/visitbristol.co.uk\/things-to-do\/bristol-pirate-walks-p655663\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">&nbsp;pirate walking tours<\/a>&nbsp;for something a little different from the usual city tour. The guides are very knowledgeable about Bristol in general and will bring you to all of the popular spots but they specialise in all things pirate. ARRRRRR MATEY!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-food\">Food&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of October 2017, Bristol is home to four Michelin-star restaurants Casamia, The Pony &amp; Trap, Paco Tapas and Wilks. We are so lucky to have these world-class restaurants right on our doorstep when we feel like splashing the cash and treating our selves to a fancy meal. If you like something a little more homely you could visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/visitbristol.co.uk\/food-and-drink\/the-ox-clifton-p1965263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Ox Clifton<\/a>&nbsp;which offers exceptional food using local seasonal ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-local-arts\">Local arts&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you know that world-famous graffiti\/street artist, Banksy, comes from Bristol? Although his identity remains unknown to this day, the artist has amassed a huge online following, has 100s of exhibitions dedicated to him each year and his prints now sell for hundreds of thousands of pounds. Luckily Bristol is where is perfected his craft and many of his works can be viewed with a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/visitbristol.co.uk\/things-to-do\/banksy-walking-tour-p1354013\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">short stroll around the city<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-local-pubs\">Local pubs&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not exactly a hidden gem, but something close to our heart and our home,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/visitbristol.co.uk\/about-bristol\/areas\/old-market-temple-meads-and-redcliffe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Old Market<\/a>&nbsp;is a bohemian area which contains many bars, shops, restaurants and nightclubs. The area is steeped in history and contains over 60 listed and historically significant buildings among which is a former courthouse, now a pub. Old Market is well-known for its night-life and for being gay &amp; LGBT friendly with many dedicated gay-bars dotted around the square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-local-history\">Local History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While in Bristol, soak in some of the local historical sites too.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stmaryredcliffe.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">St Mary\u2019s Church<\/a>&nbsp;in Redcliffe is an 800-year old masterpiece in Gothic architecture and contains some really impressive 18th-century ironwork, beautiful stained glass and a world-famous organ. The church is situated on the edge of the red cliffs, floating above the harbour.
